By Craig Taggart, National Recognition Committee Chair (craig.taggart@skipatrol.ca)

With the cancellation of the Altitude 2020 national conference and therefore the national recognition ceremony, a new way of distributing the awards was needed. The physical awards have been produced as normal, and made available for zones and divisions to present in a safe manner when permitted by public health guidelines. Circumstances delayed the award production, however they are now available.

Helly Hansen is now the title sponsor for the national recognition program and its logo now appears on all awards and certificates. As well, we have moved to have our certificates produced in-house through the national office, allowing for immediate and future cost savings, simplified production, and easier re-production of certificates if necessary. The transition did take a little longer than expected, but will result in faster turnaround time going forward.

The full listing of recipients of national recognition appears below. The full nominations (in the language in which they were received) for each recipient as well as a celebratory video are now available on the CSP website.

Moving forward, with the retirement of the current NDS, we are working on new methods for nomination and scoring. Stay tuned for updated information.

Zone presidents were informed mid-August that they may obtain the awards, certificates, pins, badges from the national office for distribution. Congratulations to all recipients for their achievements.

National awards 2020 – The complete list of national awards for 2020 can be accessed by clicking here. Due to the current pandemic, all of these awards are being presented at the local level. Over the course of the coming season, a number of articles will be presented in 5/5 to tell the stories of some of these awards.

Congratulations to all national recognition recipients
