We are thrilled to report on the success of International Ski Patrol Day (ISPD) 2025 celebrations that took place across the country last month. Ski resorts nationwide joined in honouring the dedicated patrollers who work tirelessly to keep our slopes and trails safe and enjoyable for all.

Nationwide celebrations

CSP partner ski resorts across Canada embraced the spirit of ISPD with enthusiasm. Visitors at participating resorts had the opportunity to express their gratitude to ski patrollers through various activities (just to name a few):

  • Writing thank-you notes and messages of appreciation.
  • Participating in “meet the patrol” sessions.
  • Seeing safety demonstrations delivered by patrollers.
  • Enjoying special ISPD-themed events and refreshments.

A number of resorts set up “Praise for Patrollers” displays, allowing guests to learn more about the crucial role ski patrollers play in ski area safety and operations.

Community engagement

The day saw an outpouring of support from the skiing and snowboarding community as well. Social media channels were abuzz with the hashtag #skipatrolday, as visitors to ski areas shared their experiences and messages of thanks. This digital engagement helped raise awareness about the important work of ski patrollers and fostered a stronger connection between resort guests and safety teams.

Helly Hansen’s continued support

Once again, Helly Hansen Canada had instore activations at four boutique stores: Whistler, Vancouver, Banff and Tremblant.

The events provided a fun and engaging way for customers to connect with the CSP, featuring a dedicated table with recruitment materials, a “Thank You Ski Patrol” sign, and an ISPD sign highlighting the five per cent sales donation for Monday, February 10.

Customers participated in winter safety and CSP trivia to win Helly Hansen swag, while also having the opportunity to ask questions, learn more about CSP, and explore ways to get involved in a relaxed and informative setting.

The CSP was proud to have members present at the Whistler, Vancouver and Banff locations on February 8 and 9, 2025, this year.

A big thank you to Ralph Goddard (Greater Vancouver Zone), Ryan Benson (Greater Vancouver Zone), Zacharie Skoko (Calgary Zone), Jeremy Koehler (Calgary Zone), and Ken Boutilier (Calgary Zone) for spending a part of your weekend connecting with customers and sharing safety messages.

Looking ahead

The success of ISPD 2025 has reinforced the importance of recognizing and supporting ski patrollers. The Canadian Ski Patrol extends its heartfelt thanks to all participants, partner resorts, and especially to Helly Hansen for their generous donation.

As we look to the future, the CSP remains committed to promoting safety and providing essential services to skiers and snowboarders across Canada.
