In January 2024, we announced our new Pets of Patrollers feature to highlight the happiness and comfort we experience when our animal friends interact with us. For our second feature of 2025, we have our March features:
Kc, Nova Scotia
Kc, seven years young, mixed breed (with seven now-grown puppies under her belt!)
Kc (and owner Evan) are full-time patrollers at Nova Scotia’s most northern hill, Cape Smokey. Kc is proficient at hauling gear and breaking trail. Kc’s first response is giving feel-better kisses and offering her butt for feel better ‘rubbins and ruvins.’
Owner: Evan Ferguson, Cape Smokey, Nova Scotia Zone
Rudy, Saskatchewan
Rudy is a four-year-old Golden Doodle that, above all else, loves being outside. Often to a point where he refuses to come back into the warmth!
In this photo, owner Hayden was attempting to shovel the driveway when Rudy decided to use his 70 lbs. of furriness to tackle Hayden into the snowbank!
Owner: Hayden Markwart, Mission Ridge, Qu’appelle Zone.
How to get your pet featured
Please send an email to Diana Lee (diana.lee@skipatrol.ca) with the subject line: “Pets of Patrollers: Your Name, Your Pet Name” and the following details:
- Name, age, breed of your pet (e.g., Onyx, two years old, German Shepherd dog).
- Fun fact or an interesting detail about your pet and what they mean to you.
- Attach a photo of your pet (bonus points if they are wearing CSP gear :-).
- Your zone and the resort(s) you patrol at.
Mental health is an important aspect of the Canadian Ski Patrol. We hope that these pet photos spark joy throughout your 2025 season!
Even for those who don’t have pets, interacting or even seeing an animal can boost their mood. Just think of the positive impact of therapy dogs.
