Waterproof notebook and mechanical pencil
I always carry these cool tools together whether in wildfire season, ski patrol duty or for recreational use in the backcountry.
It’s the Rite in the Rain notebook and mechanical pencil. The notebook is made of waterproof paper that can be used in any weather conditions without snow, sweat, or any type of water damage causing wear to the pages.
This notebook comes in different sizes. The back page has a ruler and other metrics and conversions that are helpful in many situations.
The mechanical pencil pairs perfectly with the notebook as it has a hearty grip for use with gloves, the lead inside is thick enough that it doesn’t snap or break, and the pencil script will not wash off the page or freeze in cold conditions.
I use these items every day to record notes, safety briefings, weather conditions, first aid recordings, etc.
I purchase these items at Bow Valley Basics in Canmore. I believe they can be found at most outdoor stores and the notebook online on Amazon.ca (for example)
