The national training and development portfolio has recently undergone a reorganization to align better with the functions of the portfolio.
The revised national training and development leadership team is:
Training and development portfolio leader (formerly vice-president training and development) – Andrew Hill
The training and development portfolio leader is a member of the national management committee (NMC) and chair of the training and development committee (TDC). The primary duty of the leader is the day-to-day management of the portfolio to ensure the development and delivery of sustainable training programs for patrollers and instructors.
Training and development deputy portfolio leader – Cheryl McDowell
The training and development deputy portfolio leader is a member of the TDC. The primary duty of the deputy portfolio leader is to assist the portfolio leader in the management and communication of the patroller advanced first aid and on snow training programs, and the instructor certification program to the division training managers (DTM).
National manager advanced first aid (AFA) training – Liz Horner
The primary duty of the national manager of AFA training is to develop the patroller AFA training program in accordance with national AFA standards to the satisfaction of the medical advisory committee (MAC). The national manager of AFA training is assisted by a number of coordinators who produce the AFA training material, including the AFA manual content, the AFA training modules content and the AFA evaluations.
National manager on snow training – Dan Elliott
The primary duty of the national manager of on snow training is to develop the patroller on snow training program in accordance with national on snow standards. The national manager of on snow training is assisted by a number of coordinators who produce the on snow training material, including the On Patrol Manual content, the on-snow training modules content and the on-snow evaluation checklists.
National manager instructor certification program (ICP) – Brian Low
The primary duty of the national manager ICP is the management of the program to train and certify AFA and on snow (OS) instructors and instructor trainers and to ensure AFA and OS training modules and evaluations reflect the educational approaches. The national manager of ICP is assisted by three coordinators who produce the ICP training material, including the Instructor Certification Manual and ICP discipline specific training module content for instructors and instructor trainers.
National manager of professional development – Louie Panozzo
The primary duty of the national manager of professional development is the development and coordination of professional development programs for patrollers who are in, or seeking to be in, leadership roles.
National manager training and development resource production – Natalie Everitt
The primary duty of the national manager for training and development resource production is the timely development and delivery of the AFA, on snow, ICP and professional development training resources. The national manager of training and development resource production is assisted by a number of coordinators who produce the AFA, OS, and ICP training resources.
