Patrollers should have received updates about the interim measures taken, due to COVID-19, for training in the 2020-2021 season. This includes the extended dates for requalification of patrollers and recertification of instructors by one year, including the lockdown of online learning. COVID-19 has impacted members of the CSP in a variety of ways. These interim measures were taken to reduce stress loads on patrollers and zones during this time of crisis, and allow members of CSP to focus on their home life.

Requalification plans to meet Quebec provincial requirements are still in under discussion with the Quebec government.

Recovery from COVID-19 is going to be a slow, phased-in approach. Throughout these phases, personal distancing measures of two metres will continue. The CSP is also preparing for the anticipated recovery within the protective measures advocated by provincial and federal leadership.

Meetings are being held by the training and development committee, which is comprised of the directors, coordinators and the division training managers, to develop plans for the 2020-2021 season. A proposal to provide guidance for return to training is currently being written. It will be presented to the national board of directors for consideration in the near future.

Further information will be forthcoming at that time. In the meantime, the committee thanks you for your ongoing patience.

Stay healthy and safe.
