Dear zone presidents and division presidents,
I am pleased to announce that with the support of the Management Committee and the Board of Directors, and in partnership with both Mountain Division and Calgary Zone, the Altitude 2020 conference will be held in Calgary, Alberta in early June, 2020.
The planning committee for the conference has been assembled, and will soon be meeting to begin the process of selecting a host hotel (and securing the dates) and putting together an agenda that meets the leadership needs of the CSP, while offering educational opportunities for patrollers in general.
Altitude 2020 also marks the return of the National First-Aid Competition. This event challenges teams of three patrollers, with representation from across the country, in their first aid skills and ability to work as a cohesive team at skill stations and first-aid scenarios.
The Altitude 2020 conference website will be online in the near future, and updates will be posted to the Member 5/5 blog, 5/5 Newsletter, and our social media accounts.
Altitude 2020 also marks the start of a four-year plan for hosting the conference. Keeping to the motion passed at the Annual General Meeting in June, the Altitude Conference will move about the country in the following format:
- 2020 – Calgary (Hosts: Mountain Division and Calgary Zone)
- 2021 – Montreal (Hosts: Quebec Division and both Eastern Township and Laurentien Zones)
- This is also our 80th anniversary!
- 2022 – Winnipeg (Hosts: Manitoba Division and Red River Zone)
- 2023 – Toronto (Hosts: Ontario Division and Central Zone)
With this plan in place, it is hoped that divisions and zones will be able to appropriately plan for members to attend and experience the benefits that the Altitude Conference will continue to offer. If you have questions or suggestions for this year’s event, please forward them to altitude@skipatrol.ca
Respectfully,
Greg McCormick
Vice-President (Communications and Marketing)
