We all know that responding to some accidents can be harder than others. Some may have the potential to truly affect us and can replay in our minds for some time. The CSP cares about the impact these critical incidents could have on its volunteers, and that’s where the critical incident stress management (CISM) program comes in.

More than 140 patrollers from across Canada have completed CISM training in order to build their skills and support their peers. Courses have been offered in both group crisis intervention, and assisting individuals in crisis in both official languages. We will be offering both courses in English at this year’s conference in Toronto, June 7 to 9, 2019.

As part of the 2019 Altitude Conference, we are able to offer these courses at a greatly reduced price to active members of the CSP. CSP members: $200. Non-members: $550 (before May 7) $600 after May 7.

Details on the course content and registration are available here. You can also contact the instructor/National CISM Coordinator Brian Bennett directly at brian.bennett@skipatrol.ca, 416-894-6015 or cismtraining.ca
