To the membership of the CSP,
It is with heavy hearts that the CSP Board of Directors announce the passing of John Leu, CSP Life Member No. 15.
John Leu will be remembered as one of the builders of the CSP. Our organization owes much of what it is today due to his dedication and hard work.
John joined the CSP in Laurentien Zone in 1958 and patrolled at Val Morin. From the very beginning John was an active and involved member. He initiated and directed the first national fundraising campaign, in 1969 became national vice-president finance, and was elected to the board of directors in 1975 and became the national president.
In 1976 John was hired as the CSP’s first executive director, a position he held, and subsequently that of president and CEO, until his retirement in 2012. During his tenure as paid officer of the CSP John continued to serve many hours as a volunteer.
On behalf of the membership of the Canadian Ski Patrol I extend our most sincere condolences to John’s wife Nancy, their sons Steve and Andy and the family.

Chair, CSP Board of Directors
