Dear division presidents and zone presidents,
We are pleased to announce that the registration for this year’s Altitude Conference is now open. The conference website – http://www.skipatrol.ca/altitude2019 – is online and will serve as the source for all news about the conference. The agenda is posted and available for download, and details about the hotel and the room reservation process are also provided.
This year we are at the Delta Toronto Airport Hotel and Conference Centre, located at 655 Dixon Road in Toronto, from June 6 to 9. The hotel has two great restaurants on site, along with a fantastic lounge for our social meets. A complimentary shuttle service from the Toronto Pearson International Airport runs every 30 minutes, and there is plenty of parking on site. The conference registration fee is set at $260, and it includes all coffee breaks, lunch on Friday and a ticket to Saturday evening’s awards ceremony (details below).
Here are the highlights:
- Pick-up your registration package at the conference desk on Thursday, June 6, between 4pm and 8pm
- Once you get settled, say hello to friends new and old in the Lot 41 lounge, just off the main lobby.
- On Friday, after grabbing a hearty breakfast in The Orchid restaurant (or a coffee and bagel at Starbucks in the lobby), have a notebook ready and enjoy our plenary session with Sam Laprade, the CSP’s fundraising strategist. Sam is going to talk about how the organization can share funds in both directions, and provide some advice on fund raising in the non-profit sector.
- Sessions will continue all day, with a break for lunch in the conference area at 12 noon (included in registration).
- Friday evening we’ll be getting together for some social time – stay tuned for details on this.
- Saturday will see the continuation of Friday’s business, with a break for lunch at one of the area restaurants (on your own). The afternoon will be spend dealing with the formal business – “Meet the Candidates”, the Annual General Meeting, and the election of new members to the Board of Directors.
This year we are excited to try something new with Altitude 2019. The National Recognition and Awards Ceremony will take place in the form of an evening reception. Members are encouraged to join us after dinner for a networking style event which will feature a selection of deserts, tea and coffee, along with a cash bar. The format will be shorter and tighter with less down time (and hopefully less interruptions). We hope you will find this approach fun, engaging and of course celebratory.
The event will open at 7:00 PM, and the ceremony will start at 7:30 PM.
Guests who would like join us only for the awards event on Saturday evening are welcome to attend. A ticket option separate from the conference can be purchased for $20.00.
The National Recognition and Awards Ceremony will be the final group activity of Altitude 2019 and last chance for attendees to socialize. We hope to see you there for what’s sure to be a great night of recognition and celebration for you and your fellow patrollers!
