By Richard Eaton, Gatineau Zone President (president@gatineauskipatrol.ca)

It is with heavy hearts that we share with you that Peter Graham, a long-time Gatineau Zone patroller, passed away peacefully.

At age 83, Peter was our elder statesman and held the distinction of being one of the longest serving patrollers in Gatineau Zone. He began patrolling in 1961 with the National Ski Patrol in the Chicago area for six years. Upon his return to Canada, he worked as an engineer at the CIP paper mill in Gatineau, before moving over to work for the federal government in human resources until his retirement. Peter further distinguished himself serving more than 50 years with the Canadian Ski Patrol, incredibly, retiring from active patrolling just last year,

Peter will be sadly missed by his fellow patrollers at Mont Cascades who enjoyed his stories of his early days in the patrol. Peter led an active life style and enjoyed skiing in Gatineau Zone as well as Mount Washington on Vancouver Island. In the early days of CSP fundraising, patrollers sold buttons and Peter was far and away the CSP’s best salesman!

Patrollers at Mont Cascades enjoyed Peter’s company at our annual Sunset Banquet – particularly as he always treated everyone to his famous and delicious hot mulled wine.

We hope sharing the memories of good times and celebrations together will help Peter’s family and friends as we fondly bid him farewell. To our friend Peter we say, rest in peace and ski with the angels.
