It’s time to register and pay your fees for Calgary Zone.
Step 1: Update your information in YETI. Click Update your contact information and communication preferences and check your address, phone number, and emergency contact information. If you can’t log in to YETI, contact michelle.whitten@skipatrol.ca.
Step 2: Log in to the Calgary Zone website. If you can’t log in, contact michelle.whitten@skipatrol.ca. Complete and submit the Calgary Zone Returning Patroller Form to register and pay your fees. If you have any questions about the registration form, please contact Rebecca Taylor (rebecca.taylor@skipatrol.ca) and Michelle Whitten (michelle.whitten@skipatrol.ca). Register and pay your fees by September 30th, 2024.
Step 3: Sign up for a Requalification Day. Use the Calgary Zone Roster to sign up. You can sign up for a Requal Day before you register.
NOTE: You must complete your registration and pay your fees before you attend a Requal Day OR September 30th, 2024, whichever comes first. If you have not registered before your Requal Day, you will not be able to participate. If you have not registered before your requalification day, you will be removed from the roster for that day.
Step 4: Complete the eLearning courses:
-
Log in using your CSP ID number and your eLearning password.
-
Click My Courses.
-
Click eAFA_2024_Requalification. In the menu, the eLearning chapters appear under the heading “National Initiative Modules”. Complete the modules.
-
Click My Courses. Click Alberta OHS Legislation 2023 and complete this course too.
Step 5: The written test is online again this year:
-
Go to exams.edu.skipatrol.ca/login/index.php. This is a different website than the eLearning and requires a different password.
-
Log in using your CSP ID number and your EXAM password. If you have problems logging in, email brock.gillis@skipatrol.ca.
Step 6: Attend your Requal Day. Bring an analog watch (not a smart watch) for your diagnostic exam.
Step 7 (hill-specific): Complete any additional ski area-specific training (usually a returning weekend). Contact your PL or APL Training for additional information. Please note that individual patrol groups may have additional requirements beyond the above minimum Calgary Zone standards, including, but not limited to: Basic Avalanche Beacon Skills, Avalanche Safety Training Level 1 (AST 1), etc.
Step 8 (on-snow): Every three (3) years a mandatory on-hill ski/snowboard and toboggan test is required for every alpine patroller. This is done through either the Calgary Zone On-Snow Coordinator or the individual patrol APL training programs. The deadline for this ski test is January 31st of the third year.
NOTE: If a patroller does not meet Steps 7 & 8 (but completes 1 through 6) they are allowed to practice first aid from a patrol base hut ONLY or at summer events. They are not allowed to be in the handles of a toboggan nor are they allowed to be on snow in uniform. Any patroller that does not complete these requirements is not covered under the CSP National Insurance Program and is not considered a qualified on-snow patroller. Please contact brock.gillis@skipatrol.ca if you have any questions.
